Getting started
Neo Industrial is a remake of IndustrialCraft 2 Experimental for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. Recipes, values and tiers follow IC2 (the 1.12 wiki), with a few balance changes of its own so the game feels challenging again.
1. Rubber and resin
Find a rubber tree (
Rubber Wood) in forests, jungles or swamps. Some logs have a resin spot: right-click that face with a
Treetap to get 1 to 3
Sticky Resin. The spot refills over time.
Smelting resin gives
Rubber (the
Extractor triples the yield). Rubber insulates cables and is used in many recipes.
2. Tin, copper and bronze
Tin Ore generates in the world like in IC2. Metal ores drop the whole block (see Ore processing), so early on you just smelt them.
- Bronze: 3 copper dust + 1 tin dust = 4
Bronze Dust, which smelt into
Bronze Ingot. - Bronze gives iron-tier tools and armor, and the
Bronze Item Casing for the
Tool Box. - The
Forge Hammer turns ingots into plates, and the
Cutter turns plates into cables.
3. Your first machine
- Craft a
Basic Machine Casing (8 iron plates), an
Electronic Circuit and an
RE-Battery. - Build a
Generator: it burns fuel and produces 10 EU/t (1 coal = 4000 EU). - Connect it with
Tin Cable or
Insulated Copper Cable to a
Macerator: each ore gives 2 crushed ores, twice the ingots you get by smelting it. - Add a
BatBox to store energy (40,000 EU).
The
Wrench rotates a machine's front (right-click) and dismantles it whole (shift + right-click). If you break it with a pickaxe, electric machines drop only their casing.
4. What's next
- Energy: voltages, cables and storage; a machine that receives too much voltage explodes.
- Ore processing: the washing plant and thermal centrifuge get more out of each ore.
- Upgrades make machines faster, automated or able to take more voltage.
- Later on: heat and steam, the nuclear reactor and UU-Matter.
With JEI installed you can see every machine recipe and info pages for special items. Click the arrow in a machine's GUI to see its recipes.
